You're the one who said better Club, which is ultimately false because you're not even close.

Unless you meant to say you had the more successful season, which you did have.

I mentioned our respective league positions this season so of course I meant this season. But we are a better club in general as well, I thought that was pretty obvious

You really think anyone in this day and age (bar Liverpool fans) cares what Liverpool won in the 70's and 80's?  Why do you even care? You weren't even born then.

The League position is a more accurate determination of which teams are better. We are currently the 2nd best team in the League and a 38 game season proved that. You are the 4th best.

Cup wins aren't really an accurate depiction of how good a team actually is. As shown by how smaller teams sometimes win them, like Wigan last season.

As for previous trophies, no I don't care about Cups I've not seen us win, but that doesn't mean to say it should be ignored when talking about how good/successful a Club is.

It's funny though, weren't you like, 7 years old when Arsenal last won a trophy? You haven't actually witnessed Arsenal win the Premier League, as a proper fan have you? In fact, in your years of being an Arsenal fan, this is your first trophy win, isn't it?

Maybe one day you'll get to experience the feeling of winning the Champions League

You may have to switch teams, though.

When quizzed about the possibility of finishing the season without a trophy, Jose Mourinho said: "I am going to tell you a little bit of history of my career. In I won everything with Inter. Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League. After that, in the first season at Real Madrid I won the cup against the best team in the world. I finished second in the league to the best team in the world and lost the Champions League semi to the best team in the world.

"The next season I was champion against the best team in the world, champion with the record points and record goals scored. We won that league. We lost the Champions League semi-final on penalties when two of the best penalty takers in football missed a penalty - Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"In the third season we won everything against the best team in the world - every match. We won the Super Cup, we lost the league, and we lost the Champions League semi-final by one goal. The fourth season, which is this one, and probably the first time I don't win a single a trophy - I go to Champions League semi-final, I fight for the title to the last moment. These are the four bad seasons of my career."

Louis van Gaal has finally been appointed Manchester United manager four weeks after David Moyes was sacked by the club.

The year-old Holland coach has signed a three-year contract and will take over at Old Trafford following the World Cup finals.

"To manage the biggest club in the world makes me very proud," Van Gaal said.

"It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, makes me very proud. I have managed in games at Old Trafford before and know what an incredible arena Old Trafford is and how passionate and knowledgeable the fans are. This club has big ambitions; I too have big ambitions. Together I'm sure we will make history."

United's second managerial appointment within a year, Van Gaal was approached by Tottenham Hotspur in the wake of André Villas-Boas' dismissal in December, however he will instead manage Britain's biggest club instead.

Van Gaal will be tasked with returning United to the top of the Premier League table after the deposed champions plummeted to seventh under David Moyes.

Ryan Giggs, interim coach for the club's final four games, could prolong his career in the player-manager role he occupied during Moyes' month reign.

Frans Hoek is the Netherlands' goalkeeping coach, and Marcel Bout, an assistant coach to Van Gaal, will follow him to old Trafford.

Giggs said: "I am thrilled to have the chance to serve as assistant manager. Louis van Gaal is a world-class coach and I know I will learn a lot about coaching from being able to observe and contribute at such close quarters. Manchester United has been a huge part of my life and I'm delighted to be able to continue that relationship in such a key role."

Enjoying his second stint as Holland coach, Van Gaal won three Eredivisie titles, the Uefa Cup and the Champions League with Ajax in the 90s, before succeeding Bobby Robson at Barcelona in , where he collected two La Liga titles and

  • The latest reports claim
  • Australian newspaper names Harold Bishop as next Manchester United manager

As the rest of the world speculates on whether Louis van Gaal, Ryan Giggs or Carlo Ancelotti will be the next permanent boss at Old Trafford, Sydney-based commuter paper Mx has decided that Neighbours stalwart Harold Bishop is actually the man to take over the Red Devils.

Well, not quite. The paper didn't actually claim that incident-prone Harold - played by actor Ian Smith for nearly 25 years - will be the new boss. But they did use Harold's likeness on an article about how Van Gaal is set for the hot seat:

There is as yet no word on whether this was a hilarious joke pulled by one of the paper's staff, or a simple cock-up - but either way, it made us laugh out loud, giving a rare chuckle in what is becoming a strangely-protracted process which will still almost certainly see the Dutchman confirmed in the job.

The latest reports claim that Van Gaal will be named as United's new manager next week, following their final home match of the season on Tuesday night.

The only wrinkle being ironed out, according to a Daily Mail report on Friday, is what happens to the current crop of "class of '92" stars who are running the club right now. Van Gaal has his own team of men, meaning that Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville are expected to face either major demotions, or being shown the exit door.

Axing all four would be brutal and ruthless - but that is what United can expect from a martinet such as Van Gaal. And the fans won't like it one little bit.

Maybe they'd be better off with Harold Bishop after all.
