Rey Cometa

Mexican Luchador (born 1983)

Mario Alberto González (born March 11, 1983), better known by his ring nameRey Cometa (Spanish for "King Comet"), is a Mexican luchador (or professional wrestler), working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotionConsejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Rey Cometa first gained national exposure when he worked for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) from 2005 until 2008. In AAA, he was a part of the group Real Fuerza Aérea, consisting of young high flying wrestlers. As is usual with masked wrestlers in Mexico, Cometa's real name was not a matter of public record until he lost his mask in a match in September 2012. With his brother Espíritu Negro as Los Atrapa Sueños ("Dream Catchers"), they are one-time Mexican National Tag Team Champions and one-time Mexican National Trios Champions in their first reign (alongside Dulce Gardenia). He is also a former holder of the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.

Professional wrestling career

González was trained by Dragon de Oriente I, II, Kaoma Jr., and Atomico de Oro before making his debut on April 30, 1999, at the age of 16. Dragon de Oriente I originally worked as "Rey Cometa", but changed to "Dragon de Oriente I" in 1989. Dragon decided to give the "Rey Cometa" name to the best student in his class; initially González worked as "Rey Cometa Jr." but the "Junior" part was quietly dropped within a year of his debut. In 2003 Rey Cometa defeated his trainer Kaoma Jr. and Sarpa de Tigre in a Luchas de Apuesta (bet match) where both the losers had their hair shaved off after the match. During his time on the Mexican independent circuit Rey Cometa won the *Queretaro State Lightweight Championship once.

AAA (2005–2008)

In 2005 Rey Cometa began working for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), one of Mexico's largest professional wrestling promotions. His first ap

Twin brothers playing pop-punk, packed with soaring vocal harmonies and a jumping live show.

Based in Milford, Connecticut, and offering a blend of punk and pop-rock, Cometa was formed by twin brothers Grant [lead vocals, guitar] and Gareth Cometa [lead guitar, vocals]. Since the band's formation, they have recorded 2 albums, 'In Rhyme & Reason' (2013) and 'Radiance' (2015). They've played the 2015 Vans Warped Tour and have opened for such acts as All Time Low, New Found Glory, Rise Against, Story of the Year, and Sevendust.

Born in Manitoba, Canada, the brothers moved to the states in the late 90s and would begin writing songs together during college. "I was fronting my own band and Gareth started playing guitar," says Grant. "My band broke up and Gareth and I started writing together; naturally, we had good musical chemistry." The twins would email each other song ideas and edit each other's work. The result was, as Grant says, "a collection of some pretty bitchin' songs."

After grabbing up roommate Haroon Ramzan [bass/vocals], the band sent song samples to Wes Long [drums/vocals], who quickly joined the project after being found through Facebook. "I got an instant message from a complete stranger. Then I heard the riffs, the chugging, the vocal harmonies, and double bass runs, and I was pretty much sold" says Wes.

The band prides themselves on their energetic live show, songwriting, and connection with their fans. Most of the members have been trained with marching bands during their high school years. Today, you can find them as @cometamusic on all platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Spotify, and apple music.

How it happenedFrom humble beginnings to global significance
After leading multi-regional teams at Total Energy and BP, as well as managing various businesses in the South African energy sector, Brett Pritchard founded Cometa. Following the successful completion of numerous projects across South Africa, we acquired our first export offtake with an international blue-chip client. Having proven our capabilities at this scale, we grew from strength to strength, with a succession of notable years. Subsequently, we established our present-day headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. This division of the company now serves as a marketing and advisory support for the South African team, which has shifted its focus to logistics and procurement.
