Peter Berg (born March 11, ) is an American director, producer, writer, and actor. His directorial film works include the black comedy Very Bad Things (), the action comedy The Rundown (), the sports drama Friday Night Lights (), the action thriller The Kingdom (), the superhero comedy-drama Hancock (), the military science fiction war film Battleship (), the war film Lone Survivor (), the disaster drama Deepwater Horizon (), and the Boston Marathon bombing drama Patriots Day (), the latter three all starring Mark Wahlberg. In addition to cameo appearances in the last six of these titles, he has had prominent acting roles in films including The Great White Hype (), Cop Land (), Corky Romano (), Collateral (), Smokin' Aces (), and Lions for Lambs ().

In television, Berg developed Friday Night Lights (–), adapted from his film, earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. As an actor, he is best known for his role as Dr. Billy Kronk on the CBSmedical dramaChicago Hope (–).

In Utah, Sara Rowell (Betty Gilpin) and her son Devin (Preston Mota) arrive at a trading post, searching for a guide to take them to Cooks Springs to meet up with her husband. In a Mormon settler commune at Mountain Meadows, Sara crosses paths with fellow travelers, including a husband-wife duo named Jacob (Dane DeHaan) and Abish (Saura Lightfoot-Leon) Pratt. Instantly, they find themselves in the epicenter of a war between a local militia in hoods and the Paiute Native American tribe. Sara, Isaac, and Devin, and Two Moons, who eventually reveals herself to the group, survive, but there’s been a bounty out for Sara for her troubled past.
